Iran’s Quranic Week Opens in Lahore

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Iran’s Quranic week and exhibition of Iranian artworks was opened on August 16 in Lahore, Pakistan.  According to ICRO, the week has been arranged by Iran Cultural Center in Lahore aiming to introduce the rich Quranic culture and disseminate the noble Islamic art.  The opening ceremony of the Quranic week was held at 11 am. local time with the presence of Chaudhary Abdul Ghafoor, Minister of Industries and Tourism in Punjab Province, Hussein Bani Asadi, Iranian Counselor and Abbas Famuri, Iranian cultural attaché who is in charge of the Iranian center in Lahore as well as a number of eminent artists and political and religious figures of the region.  The exhibition held on the sidelines of the week presents Islamic artworks such as calligraphies, illuminations and engravings on pieces of wood and stone.  The Punjabi official stated that Iran and Pakistan are two Muslim neighbors with an increased relation during history, “the two nations have become united under the Shadow of Islam”.  He also regarded holding such exhibitions as a step towards encouraging particularly the youth and students to create Islamic artworks while strengthening the cultural relations between the countries./129
